Robbers take over 140 million kyats worth of gold in a gold shop robbery in Mandalay

A gold shop in Mandalay was robbed and over Ks.140 million worth of gold accessories were taken on July 13. The vehicle used in the robbery was also stolen from a construction site, sources said.

Five armed men entered a construction site in Khanlulay village, Sakarin village tract, Tada Oo Township, Mandalay Region and took a white Ford Ranger vehicle.

Later, they went to Maung Daine gold shop in Setkway ward, Yangon-Mandalay old road in Sartoe Myopyingyi village tract, Amarapura Township and took 41 gold chains, 134 pairs of earrings, 21 gold hand chains, 4 gold hairpins, weighing a total of 52 ticals worth over Ks.140 million, it is reported.
