Kyaikhto Township Administration Council member U Ye Naing Aung aka U Ye Naing (Maths) was shot dead in the evening of June 22 according to locals.

Two unknown assailants shot him about 9 times near Kyaikpi Tawya monastery in Kyaikpi village, Kyaikhto Township around 6:00 pm on June 22.

"He got gunshot wounds at his chest, neck, and face and died on the spot. He was a tuition teacher and he was shot while going to tuition at the Kyaikpi village," according to a local.

Although he was a member of Kyaikhto Township Administration Council, he wasn’t a member of other parties, he continued. His body was sent to Kyaikhto Township hospital and then sent to his home.

According to the Kyaikhto Revolution Force’s (KRF) social media page, it was written that they carried out the assassination.
