The southwest monsoon wind may enter the delta areas between May 29 and June 2, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
Southwest monsoon is likely to set in deltaic area between May 29 and June 2, central Myanmar area between June 3 and 6 and the whole country between June 7 and 10.
Two low pressure areas may form over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal and one may further intensify into a depression. During this period, monsoon will be moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
Rain or thundershowers are likely above normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady regions and Kayah, Kayin, Mon states and about normal in Sagaing, Mandalay, Taninthayi regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine states.
Rainy days are expected about 22 to 28 days in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi regions and Kachin, Southern Shan, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon states, 15 to 21 days in Nay Pyi Taw, upper Sagaing Region and Northern and Eastern Shan, Chin, Kayah states and 8 to 14 days in lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway regions.
