A central pandal and seven pandals will be built along the Mawlamyine Kannar Road for the upcoming Maha Thingyan Festival, according to people close to the state government.
A person close to the state government said that the central pandal is being built in front of the Myoma Bridge in Mawlamyine Kannar Road, and it is known that singer Myanmar Pyi Thein Tan and other famous singers will come and perform in the central pandal.
He continued, "It is also known that seven large pandals which include entertainment will be built in cooperation with other departments and entrepreneurs along Kannar Road."
In addition, it is known that a floating Thingyan pandal will be constructed at the former floating night market near Dawei Bridge on Kannar Road, and that the pandal will have singers' performances and DJ performances as well as charity feast, called Studitha.
In addition to this, there is also an entertainment pandal and a walking Thingyan festival for children and adults to splash in the water at the Ramanya Beach on Recreation Ground at the former Kyar bridge site on Kannar Road.
Although the Maha Thingyan festival could not be held in Mawlamyine due to the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the political situation in 2021 and 2022, the government is working to celebrate the Maha Thingyan Festival this year.
