EP Ministry will not fulfill power demand in coming summer season

YANGON-----The Ministry of Electric Power will not fulfill the demand of electricity in coming summer season as well as the plans to reduce power distribution rates must be laid down, Thaung Han, Union Minister of Electric Power said at the work coordination meeting held at the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation Office (YESC) in Yangon, yesterday.

“Although the electric power ministry will not supply daily power demand of the public to meet the target, plans are underway to lay down for rotational shifts of power distribution. Moreover, the role of sub-power stations is very important aiming not to appear blackout during the rotational shifts of power distribution. So, the sub-power stations are needed to maintain their functioning tasks,” said the EP minister.

Later, the Managing Director of Electric Power Generation Enterprise and the Director General of the Department of Power Transmission and System Control Chairman of Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation and the responsible persons from the industrial zones reported the status of generation of electric power, the power transmission conditions, status of electric power supply in coming summer season, implementation for the investment in the electric power sector and the electric power requirements.

Regarding with the reports, the Chairman of YESC, Union Minister of Resources and relevant directors-general and managing directors coordinated necessaries and the union minister gave a speech of conclusion, it’s reported.
