Although Myanmar citizens went to Thailand as legal MoU workers by spending 0.2 million Kyats, they got into difficulties finding their jobs, according to the workers.

Golden Myanmar Lighting Co;Ltd which is one of the Oversea Job Agencies recruited over 40 Myanmar workers after signing the MoU with TMML Services Co;Ltd in Thailand. Later, the Golden Myanmar Lighting Company sent Myanmar MoU workers to Thailand via Myawaddy-Mae Soat road on September 19th aiming to work at the DHL Company.

However, some of Myanmar MoU workers have difficulty finding their jobs although they have arrived in Thailand until October 19th.

“ We left for Thailand from Myawaddy Township on September 19th. When we arrived in Thailand, we were separated from other workers. We didn’t know whether other workers get the jobs or not. Seven workers including me were changed the four places although we didn’t get the jobs. Firstly, we received five pyi of rice and 12 eggs. Now, we have no money and no job. Although we connected the job agency, the agency didn’t settle,” said one of the MoU workers who didn’t find the job.

Among MoU Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand, some didn’t find the job for months. According to the Thailand Labour Law, if MoU workers didn’t find the job over 15 days, they must receive 75% of wages, according to the Ko Thar Gyi who helps with the Myanmar labour affairs.

Those who help with the Myanmar Labour affairs in Thailand said that some Myanmar MoU workers have difficulty in finding their jobs although they arrived in Thailand for months. So, the authorized Oversea Job Agencies are needed not to carry out the tasks like human trafficking.
