SAC chair and peace delegation led by the NMSP vice chairman held a second meeting

Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the peace delegation led by New Mon State Party (NMSP) Vice Chairman Nai Aung Min met for the second time on October 11 at the Bayintnaung Avenue in Nay Pyi Taw to discuss peace issues.

The peace meeting was attended by the Vice Chair of the Council, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army), Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council members General Mya Tun Oo, Lieutenant General Mo Myint Tun, Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae, members of the Central Working Committee for NMSP, Nai Banya Lel and Nai M Seik Chan attended.

Therefore, the SAC chair clarified the situation that 2022 was declared as the year of peace, the situations that were invited to meet and discuss to find a solution without placing any restrictions on the political disagreement based on the 2008 Constitution and the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) to continue to develop the path of peace, to apply a true and disciplined multi-party democratic system, the conditions under which efforts are being made to build a union based on democracy and federalism as a political vision, the demands of the ethnic armed groups during the peace meeting and discussion needs to be discussed in an open manner and what is really necessary and appropriate for the region and the country.

After that, the vice chair of the NMSP and the members said situations that are encouraging and grateful for the opportunity to hold a second peace meeting and discuss without any restrictions, the situation where they are constantly walking on the path of peace while their goal is to achieve nationwide peace and situations where differences of opinion arising from politics are being discussed and resolved politically.

Regarding the discussions and presentations, the SAC chair said that in a democratic system, the Parliament is the highest politically, and as ethnic groups, they must be more involved in the political stage in order to be able to demand the rights of their region in accordance with the law and while analyzing the parties, there are parties based on politics, regions and ethnics in that situation we need to take action for the benefit of the Union, not just one party. It is reported that they discussed the views of both sides regarding regional development issues.

The peace delegation led by the vice chair of the NMSP will meet with a peace discussion group formed by the SAC and National Unity and Peace Talks Coordination Committee.
