KAYIN------Kawkareik Township General Administration Department yesterday issued an order saying that the department imposed nighttime curfew hours to between 6 p.m to 4a.m in Kawkareik Township, Kayin State, due to the regional security condition.
In the past, the 10p.m to 4a.m curfew hours was in effective in Kayin State.
The announcement also included that rallies and gatherings of more than five people, along with motorized processions have been banned.
Moreover, Myawaddy, Kyaikmayaw, Kyarinseikgyi, Hpa-an and Hlaingbwe Townships in Kayin State have been designated as the restricted areas.
The announcement reported that the Kawkayeik Township held the protests and then it carried out destructive efforts since the beginning of February 8th of 2021. Moreover, the security forces including police members and soldiers were attacked with heavy weapons in Kawkareik Township on August 15th. In doing With the aim not to occur riots and conflicts in Kawkareik Township, the authorities have imposed nighttime curfew hours to between 6pm to 4 am.
The Brigade-6 under the Kayen National Union-KNU and PDFs attacked the General Administrative Office including Kawkareik District Police Office on August 15th. After the attacks on the government buildings, the nighttime curfew hours to between 6pm to 4am has been increased.
