From October 1 to 12 of 2018-2019 fiscal year, the external trade volume has reached US$ 1183.079 billion, up US$ 458 million compared with the same period last year, according to the commerce ministry.
The export volume amounts to US$ 472.578 million and the import volume, US$ 710.501 million. The sea trade reached US$ 956.598 million and the border trade, US$ 226.481 million.
The export earnings from the mining sector have dropped this fiscal year though Myanmar generates more export earnings from exports of farm, animal, marine, forest, and industrial finished products and other products.

In 2017-2018 FY, the external trade volume reached US$ 33323.815 million, up US$ 4114.209 million compared with that in 2016-2017 FY.
Myanmar’s export sector has to rely on few major products like natural resources, gas, agricultural and marine products. Myanmar has opened 17 border trade camps.
