Dr Nanda Win, head of Mon State Department of Public Health and Medical Service, said that a patient from the town of Thanphyuzayat with rashes on the skin had no symptoms of monkeypox.

He said: “Blisters and rashes on the skin of the patient form Thanphyuzayat were not symptoms of monkeypox. It was learnt that the patient lived in the jungle. It was not known how the illness started.  He was suffering from malnutrition and skin disorder", he added. 

He further said: "Blood tests did not result in any symptoms of monkeypox. The patient is being provided with required medications.  The patient has been isolated, and is under the care of specialists and pathologists.”

The patient is from Aung Thayar ward, Thanphyuzayat. He was brought to Thanphyuzayat Township People’s Hospital on July 2 by a social aid organization from Thanphyuzayat. He is receiving medical treatment in an isolation ward.
