The information team of the State Administration Council (SAC) issued a statement on June 11 saying that the State will accept and welcome armed resistance organizations’ members including PDF (People’s Defence Force) if they are to enter the legal fold.
Those who were persuaded by the CRPH (the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw) and NUG (National Unity Government) to commit acts of terrorism with intent to cause utter devastation the country have come to launch armed resistance under various names of groups including PDF. Such acts can affect the stability of the State and delay the effort to promote d Therefore, it is here announced that the organizations including PDF are welcomed if they enter the legal fold by surrendering their weapons and participate in future work plans of the country.
The statement also pointed out that the differences in political ideology and ethnic affairs have led to internal armed conflicts hampering national development.
As the strength of the country lies within, the entire people should cooperate in establishing a genuine and disciplined multiparty democratic system as per the five-point roadmap of the State Administration Council, “upon accomplishing the provisions of the state of emergency, free and fair multiparty democratic elections will be held in line with the 2008 Constitution, and further work will be undertaken to hand over State duties to the winning party according to democratic standards, and the people participation can enhance these undertakings in line with “the strength of the country lies within” and “one of the objectives on political affairs to build a Union based on democracy and federalism through a disciplined and genuine multiparty democratic system that is fair and just”, the statement added.
