Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), Air KBZ and Golden Myanmar, three out of five local airlines, have resumed their domestic flight schedules for major cities in accord with the health guidelines, according to sources from MNA.
The government allowed the domestic airlines to resume their regular flight schedules on December 16 after their suspension due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
MNA started Yangon-Loikaw-Heho, Kengtung-Yangon flight schedules on the same day.
“We resumed our domestic flights to the towns and cities which rely on air transport. We will also conduct our flights to other towns with difficult access. We resumed our domestic flights in line with the rules and guidelines adopted by the Ministry of Health and Sports for crew members, airport staff and air passengers to follow,” said MNA CEO Than Tun.
Likewise, Air KBZ resumed Yangon-Sittwe-Yangon and Yangon-Myeik-Yangon flight schedules on December 16 with the use of ATR planes.
Golden Myanmar announced it would resume its domestic flights on December 17.
The operative five domestic airlines in Myanmar are state-owned MNA, Air KBZ, Air Thanlwin, Mann Yadanarpon and Golden Myanmar.
Air Thanlwin has released a statement saying that preparations are being made for flight resumption and that flight schedules and starting date will be announced.
Mann Yadanarpon announced it would not resume its domestic flight schedules until the end of December.
Air passengers need to have Covid-19 clearance certificates valid for 36 hours to take domestic flights.
