The follow-up on people who had recovered from COVID-19 symptoms of the disease were found positive again.
At the discussion on COVID-19 Challenges of Time and Scale held at the Myanmar Doctors' Association Hematologist, Prof Dr Ye Mya said that efforts were underway to reassess the conditions for being discharged from hospital.
He said, "Patient by patient they get discharged. Symptoms of the disease are good. After completing 11 days they are discharged. Most often there is no problem, but sometimes there is recurrence. This is happening now. I am not so much for individuals getting better, but tell those discharged to keep us informed for a fortnight after getting home, for instance 'keeping well or feeling sick'. Another thing we can do is to do a check up before being discharged. We checked his health condition. But with many people we have difficulties. This matter was presented to the COVID-19 Clinical Management recently and the conditions for being discharged from hospital were being reassessed that could be used for the majority".
In doing the follow-up of those that had recovered from COVID-19 symptoms such as heart palpitation, shortness of breath tiredness, and coughing were detected again, said Prof Dr Hlaing Mya Win during the question and answer session on 'matters to know on COVID-19'.
Dr Hlaing Mya Win further said that earlier occurrence of COVID-19 were little, symptoms of the disease were found in persons who had recovered. In medical terms it is known as Long Covid Syndromes it consists of four major groups. In the first group those that had gone home after recovery from this disease symptoms are found in heart and lungs. They experience heart palpitations, shortness of breath, feel tired and cough.
Although COVID-19 patients have recovered some patients still feel the pangs, and so patients discharged should be given a follow-up depending upon the facts for recurrence.
In every 100,000 COVID-19 patients 80000 recover , and at the moment there are over 19000 patients in treatment centres, as disclosed by the Ministry of Health a d Sports.
