Maungdaw – Maungdaw became the second largest COVID0-19 infected area in Rakhine State after Sittwe brought the total number of patients to 372, sources said.

Six more patients were allowed to be discharged from Maungdaw hospital on November 18 bringing the total number to 310.

Two people have died from the virus and more confirmed patients are found in Maungdaw daily. At present, 60 patients are receiving treatment at Maungdaw hospital, according to the district public health department.

Although the number of positive confirmed patients in Maungdaw is lower than those in Kyaukphyu previously, it has increased in recent days.

“We found more positive patients in Maungdaw daily and the authorities warned people to follow “Stay at home” order. No people are seen in the streets in the afternoon,” said a local.

The largest COVID-19 positive confirmed patients are found in Sittwe followed by Maungdaw and Kyaukphyu, where the number of confirmed patients is 369, according to figures from Rakhine COVID-19 Watch group.

The authorities announced locals in Maungdaw to follow six facts included in “Stay at home” order as more patients are found in the township day by day and those who don’t obey the order will be taken action against natural disaster management law.
