Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD) has won about 42 parliamentary seats and the votes are being recounted in two districts of northern Shan State, said SNLD joint general secretary Sai Leik.
According to initial results, SNLD has won 13 lower house seats, two upper house seats and 27 state parliamentary seats. But final results have yet to come as the votes in Muse and Kyaukme districts are being recounted, he said.
“Some data is complicated. As problems arise, we cannot confirm now. The data for the upper house are complicated. It is in Kutkai. In the constituency where Maw Tun Aung contested for an upper house seat, alleged voting regularities have emerged. Votes are still being counted in Kyaukme and Momeik districts. They are being recounted. They include six townships. They are both advance votes and secure votes. If data is the wrong in one place, other places are not reliable either. So, votes have to be recounted. We won in 13 lower house constituencies. We won only half in Tanyang, Namatu and Muse. For the upper house, the results have come out from Loilin and Lashio districts only. Muse and Kyaukme districts are still in controversy. We did not win even a seat for ethnic affairs constituencies,” said Sai Leik.
