A total of 15 more COVID-19 confirmed patients were found in Myeik on October 26 and some terminals handling cargos are placed on lockdown after the health authorities tracked down the contacts of a truck driver, who is tested positive for COVID-19 virus, sources said.

“There may be people who had contact with the truck driver before and we cannot confirm how many people are. I cannot say the number of people we are tracing,” said Dr Zin Ko Aung, Head of Myeik Township public health department.

Some people are put in quarantine at Pale Yarzar dormitory and 15 of them are found infected with COVID-19. They are market sellers and truck helpers.

“We took a swab test for the truck drivers and helpers coming from Yangon to Myeik before they entered into Myeik. However we are still finding contacts,” said an official from a committee for prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 for Myeik District.

There may be around 100 people who had contacts with the 15 positive patients and officials from the public health department are cooperating with social welfare associations to find the contacts.
