No (3) Police Training School in Sagaing, Sagaing Region, has allegedly misappropriated over Ks100 million under the budget category of salary, ration and training course, according to a report issued by Sagaing Region Auditor General’s Office.
During the third-day session of the 23rd regular meeting of Sagaing Region Parliament on June 8, Auditor General Soe Lwin submitted the report on the findings from April to September in 2018 to the parliament.
The report highlights several malpractices such as drawing salaries more than necessary with the use of additional cheques, writing amount of cash more than necessary on cheques, mentioning the period of salaries and rations more than necessary and drawing money for buying meals for trainees although training courses were not conducted.
However, the report says the department concerned has replied that responsible accountants were dismissed and legal action taken against them under Section 409 of the Penal Code of Myanmar; action was taken against the drawing officer and the account checker in accord with the police disciplinary enforcement law; and for the appropriated Ks100,505,600, Ks60,000,000 with challan No.20 dated 9-8-2018 and Ks40,505,600 with challan No.33 dated 26-11-2018 were refunded.
The report points out the misappropriation of public funds with intent and calls for step-by-step supervision of enforcing financial rules and regulations.
