Myanmar found 14 new COVID-19 patients including 12 family members who lived in Insein Township on May 7, announced the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS).

A total of 185 test results including 83 swab samples tested by National Health Laboratory and 102 swab samples tested by Department of Medical Research were tested on May 7.

A total of 62 COVID-19 patients were found negative twice till May 7 and 37 of them were discharged from the hospital to place quarantine in assigned places.

MP Wai Phyo Han of Insein Constituency said all 12 new COVID-19 patients from Insein Township are family members.

“We only know they met the COVID-19 patients but we are still inquiring how they had been infected,” said the MP on May 7.

The family lived in Kawaechan 2 Street, West Kyokone Ward, Insein and the authorities found up to 18 COVID-19 patients in the street so far, he said.

They have been sent to the quarantine center since May 4 and the street is in lockdown, he added.

According to the announcements from the MOHS, most COVID-19 patients are found in Yangon Region and 42 of the COVID-19 patients lived in Insein Township till May 7, which has the highest number in the region.

Health authorities checked the health of more than 50,000 people lived in East Kyokone, West Kyokone, East Ywarma and Taungthukone wards in Insein Township at their homes on May 6 using thermal scanner vehicles and doctors asked about the history in concerned with their health to find suspected patients.
