Kayin State government is planning to open more quarantine centers in Hpa-an as about 5,000 migrant workers will return home via Myawady before the Thingyan, according to the state government.
“We have opened five quarantine centers in Hpa-an and planned to open more quarantine centers. We have also arranged community based facility quarantine in respective townships and villages,” said an official from the state government.
The five quarantine centers are opened in Hlakamyin – Mulun, Agriculture Institute (Zwekabin), Htaungwi Mogok Wipatanar, Ah-Hta-Ka (Ohntapin) and Ah-Hta-Ka (Tanugkalay). More quarantine centers will be opened at rehab camp, Computer University, Ah-Hta-Ka (Hlakar), Ah-Hta-Ka (900-ton cement factory) and Technology University.
Thousands of migrant workers are returned home daily since early April.
Quarantine centers in Myawady are not enough to accommodate all returnees and the state government made negotiation with Mon State government to keep about 300 returnees in quarantine centers in Thaton, Mon State.
