The military has planned to accept 15,000 persons under investigation of COVID-19 at its transit centre in Nay Pyi Taw and it is now ready to accept over 1,000, said quarantine centre in charge Colonel Aung Myat Soe.
The officer made the remark during a briefing on the military’s preparations to accept PUIs at the transit centre on April 2.
“After the instruction of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, we are planning to house about 15,000 people to be quarantined. You all have seen our house settings. One mess hall can house 109 people. So, five halls can house 540. We have 65 mess halls. We have made 1,080 sets of beddings. More sets are ready for more people,” Col Aung Myat Soe said.
The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services issued a press release on April 1 saying that the place for accepting PUIs, the kitchen, mess halls, bathrooms and toilets at the transit centre had been disinfected.
Plans have been made to keep PUIs six feet apart between them at the transit centre, the colonel added.
They will have to take body temperature two times a day—in the morning and at night. Suspected civilian patients will be sent to Nay Pyi Taw Hospital (1000-bed). Suspected military patients will be sent to Nay Pyi Taw military hospital (1000-bed).
