Moderate earthquake recorded near Kalewa

A moderate earthquake was recorded near Kalewa in Sagaing Region on the night of October 2, according to a statement issued by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

The earthquake occurred at 11:25:32 pm. on October 2, 2026, with its epicenter located in Myanmar, about five miles southeast of Kalewa and approximately 60 miles northeast of the Hakha Seismological Station.

The earthquake was measured at magnitude 4.4 and originated at a depth of approximately 77 kilometers. Its epicenter was recorded at 23.15° North latitude and 94.36° East longitude, according to the DMH.
