A man who came back from Thailand violated the district and Ministry of Health and Sports directives concerning COVID-19 was sentenced to 6 months in prison.

“A man from Pale, Yinmarbin District in Sagaing, came back from Thailand recently and he was put under quarantine. He and his friends also insulted health volunteers. At night, he led his friends and broke out by the fences of the school where they were quarantined and went downtown, drank alcohol and cause problems to the volunteers. He has been sentenced to 6 months in prison by the township court for violation of Natural Disasters’ Management Law. Actually, it can be sentenced up to a year,” said MP Zaw Htet, Pale Township Constituency -1.

He added that action should be taken seriously to those violating the law concerning COVID-19. Unless the action is taken, there will be many more that will violate the law concerning COVID-19.

In Sagaing Region, there are more than 5 people violating the law on COVID-19 and authority has ordered respective department to take action to them.
