A total of 107 people returned from foreign countries are kept in quarantine at Dhamma Duta Ashin Saykaneda Yama monastery in Hmawbi Township and preparation works are still continued, sources said.

Authorities prepared to house 400 people to keep in 14-day quarantine at the monastery.

“Ashin Saykaneda is helping people under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Sports. I don’t know how many people will arrive. Now there are 107 people staying at the monastery. They had been moved here as they cannot live in a building owned by the ministry in Hlegu where they are being quarantined,” said a person from the monastery.

Although social welfare associations send COVID-19 suspects to the monastery, the monastery will only accept if only they have instruction from the ministry.

Four beds are prepared in each room and staff from the ministry will provide healthcare services to the returnees.

Soldiers and family members from Land-Air Warfare and Paratrooper Training School in Hmawbi are helping the preparation works.
