Yangon Region has kept about 500 apartments ready as a measure to brace possible coronavirus infection, said Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein.
The chief minister revealed the information during a ceremony to donate cash, medicine and medical equipment for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures held in Yangon on March 21.
“I have to say that Yangon has no coronavirus case. For possible outbreaks, we are ready. We keep about 500 apartments ready for quarantine. They are advanced condominiums. Wabargi Hospital is only for a few patients. We are also preparing about two 300-bed hospitals under the control of Yangon General Hospital. A ventilator is an essential need. For a place for 300 patients, 50 to 100 ventilators are necessary. We have prepared to overcome difficulties and challenges,” the chief minister said.
He said there had been no plan at all to hide news and doing so would invite any danger.
“We are searching for where cases occur. Only then will we be able to control the disease. If we hide the situation, the infection will accelerate,” he commented.
