As Myanmar’s tourism industry declines due to COVID-19, more than 60 hoteliers have proposed the government to give loans without interest so as to avoid failure to pay employees, said Min Kyaw Oo, secretary of Myanmar Hoteliers Association.
With the COVID-19 impact on the tourism sector, association membership hoteliers are struggling to pay their employees. In order to avoid layoffs and failure to pay employees, they have submitted a letter to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism urging State-owned banks to give interest-free loans.
