Crew members from MNA honoured for evacuating Myanmar students from Wuhan

The Ministry of Transport and Communications held a ceremony to honour the crew members from Myanmar National Airlines who volunteered to fly to China and evacuate Myanmar scholarship students from the city of Wuhan.

Captain Khup Khan Mung and his crew members volunteered their service to evacuate the Myanmar citizens studying in China from Wuhan as a measure to prevent them from COVID-19.

The honouring ceremony took place at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on February 20.

Union Minister for Transport and Communications Thant Sin Maung presented honorary awards to MNA CEO Than Tun and Captain Khup Khan Mung and Captain Myo Lwin Oo; Deputy Minister Kyaw Myo to co-pilot San Min Kyaw and superintending engineer Aung Cho; Deputy Minister Thar Oo to superintending engineer Aung Zin and deputy general manager Kyaw Zeyar; Permanent Secretary to manager Than Kyaw Htay and senior flight attendant Wala Wint; and CEO Than Tun to senior flight attendants Ye Myat Aung and Arkar Lin.

A Boeing plane owned by MNA flew to Wuhan and brought the Myanmar students to Mandalay, said Captain Khup Khan Mung. The plane left Yangon International Airport at 6 pm on February 1.

Onboard the plane were three pilots led by Captain Khup Khan Mung, four flight attendants, two engineers, one staff member from MNA and three doctors from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

Captain Khup Khan Mung, captain Myo Lwin, co-polot San Min Kyaw and superintending engineer Aung Cho were put in their houses for watching their health conditions.

The students returning from Wuhan and the flight attendants who closely took care of the students on board were placed at Waibargi Hospital for a 14-day incubation period. On February 16, they were allowed to go home under the permission of the Health Department.
