Health authorities found four more suspected patients with possible coronavirus symptoms in Minbya, Kengtong, Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw, announced the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) on February 2.
The ministry is carrying out measures to prevent 2019 novel coronavirus infection in advance, to monitor and provide effective medical services in hospitals, to provide information to the public in line with the time, to do screening works in international border gates by cooperating with other relevant ministries since the coronavirus case was confirmed in China on January 5 and to cooperate with private hospitals to do public based monitoring work, said the announcement.
A 38 year old man from Minbya Township, Rakhine State arrived back from China on January 20 had coronavirus symptoms and he was quarantined at isolation ward in Minbya Hospital and the doctors are monitoring him, it said.
Moreover, a 14-month old baby from Sichuan Province, China, who is visiting Myanmar with the child’s family, had coronavirus symptoms and admitted to a clinic in Kengtong and the child was sent to Kengtong Hospital for further examination. The condition of the patient is stable and the five family members are being watched, although they haven’t shown the symptoms of coronavirus.
A private hospital in Yangon informed Central Infectious Disease Control Centre, Public Health and Medical Services departments for Yangon Region about a 15-year old from Taiwan with possible coronavirus symptoms on February 1 and the child was being transferred to Waibargi Hospital, said the announcement.
The ministry had taken samples of nasopharyngeal swabs from the suspected patients to send the reference laboratory to confirm the coronavirus case and if the case is confirmed, it will inform the public immediately, it said.
A 29-year old Chinese man from Guangzhou working in Myanmar since January 31 had a high fever on February 2 and admitted to a private clinic in Nay Pyi Taw. The clinic sent him to 1000-Bed Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw, it said.
Samples of nasopharyngeal swabs are taken from him to send to reference laboratory to confirm whether he is infected with the 2019 novel coronavirus or not.
