Six civilians were severely injured by the Arakan Army’s heavy shelling in Kywelkuseik village in Myaebone Township in Rakhine State on the afternoon of December 27, according to the statement by the Office of Commander-in-Chief.

At around 2.30 pm on December 27, the AA attacked Tatmadaw’s Yawchaung camp located about 500 meters, southeast of Yawchaung village in Myaebone Township in Rakhine State. The AA fired heavy weapons at the camp while the Tatmadaw was taking security measures. The bombs fell onto a house in Kywelkuseik village about 200 meters east of the camp.

The security members gave necessary medical treatments to the injured and then transported them to Tatmadaw Hospital in Ann Township. The Tatmadaw also provided them with cash, according to the statement.

Ongoing fights between the Tatmadaw and the AA continue in Buthidaung, Yathaedaung, Kyauktaw, Minbya, Ponnagyun and MraukU Townships in Rakhine State. The Tatmadaw is making anti-insurgency operations there.

According to the lists collected by the Rakhine Ethnics Congress till December 13, the number of IDPs who fled the fights between the Tatmadaw and the AA, reached 98,743.

On December 28, four civilians were injured and religious buildings, damaged in the wards in Kyauktaw and near Mahakangyishin pagoda due to the attacks by the AA, according to the Tatmadaw True News Information Team.
