A power outage is occurred in some areas of Yangon due to Zawtika natural gas pipeline leakage and the damage to two towers of the Balu Chaung-Tikyit power line, announced the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC).
Currently, the total power transmission into the power system is decreasing by about 280 MW due to a gas leak in the Zawtika natural gas pipeline that is sent to natural gas power plants in Yangon Region and the damage to towers No. 110 and 111 of the 132 KV Balu Chaung-Tikyit power line, announced the YESC.
As this is decreasing, in order to ensure the stability of the power system, the emergency load reduction and control will have to be carried out from time to time, and there will be temporary power outages in some places in townships, and the statement stated that there will be no power outages in important places.
According to residents of Yangon, there have been power outages in some townships in Yangon Region these days, and power outages have lasted for hours.
"We don’t have electricity regularly. The power outages occurred almost every day. It takes at least two hours once the power blackout occurs. We can't do anything," said a resident of Thaketa Township.
This year, after the Thingyan period, electricity was provided on a part-time basis, and since July, the electricity supply has been normal, but since the end of October, there have been electricity outages in the townships of Yangon Region.
