Yangon’s Chief Minister will not compete in General Election 2020: NLD

YANGON-Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein will not compete in General Election-2020 and he will be taking a rest, says Dr Zaw Myint Maung, Spokesperson of National League for Democracy(NLD) who is also Mandalay Region Chief Minister.

NLD held it central executive committee meeting at the City Development Guesthouse in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Dr Zaw Myint Maung replied queries raised by media that he[Phyo Min Thein] will not participate in the upcoming General Election due to his health condition. He had suffered a heart attack. And then, there had been a lot of stress on his job. He told me that he wanted to take a rest.

Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein is also a Central Executive Committee member of NLD. He had contested in General Election-2015 representing as MP from Hlegue Constituency in Yangon Region. Later, he was elected for a parliamentary seat in Yangon Region Parliament and appointed as Yangon Region Chief Minister on March 30th, 2016.
