Yangon Project Bank described the projects of Yangon inner ring road and Yangon outer ring road of Yangon Elevated Expressway as strategic parts, said a source from the Ministry of Construction.

These projects have been put together in the Project Bank by the Ministry of Construction as short-term and long-term ones and they are regarded as strategic mission.

The tender winning company for Yangon Elevated Expressway and Yangon outer ring road projects will be announced in coming October and the projects will begin in 2020.

“The tender winning company for these projects will be announced in October. We are holding one on one meeting. We will have to adjust terms and conditions. Project proposals are to be submitted at the end of September and an announcement will be issued in October,” Kyi Zaw Myint, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Construction told the Daily Eleven.

The project of Yangon Elevated Expressway, jointly organized by the Ministry of Construction and Yangon Region Government will be implemented with the purpose of reducing traffic congestion in Yangon.   

The project will be carried out by public private partnership (PPP) and it is 47.5 km long. Seaports, new satellite towns based on dry ports and a platform of politics and economy will emerge along with Yangon Elevated Expressway and Yangon outer ring road projects.

Yangon Elevated Expressway will be an easy access to the downtown Yangon, Yangon port, Yangon international airport, Mingaladon industrial zone and Yangon-Mandalay express.
