The Yangon Region government has sent a letter to the regional military command for cooperation of military medical corps as the Central Institute of Civil Service (Phaunggyi) where a temporary hospital will be set up for COVID-19 confirmed cases needs over 200 medical staffs. 

According to the letter dated April 3, under the instruction of the Ministry of Health and Sports and the leadership of the Yangon Region government, a temporary hospital will be promptly opened at CICS (Lower Myanmar). 

In the initial stage, the hospital will accept up to 200 patients, so about 205 medical staff members are necessary. Therefore, the government seeks cooperation of military medical corps, the letter says. 

Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein attended a coordination meeting on preparations for a medical centre held at CICS (Lower Myanmar) in Phaunggyi, Hlegu Township, on April 5. 

Region Minister for Immigration and Human Resources Moe Moe Su Kyi has already said CICS (Phaunggyi) will be turned into a temporary hospital (1000-bed). 

Nearly 3,000 people are in quarantine over COVID-19 in the region and a community-based facility quarantine is being planned to cover about 20,000 people, said Moe Hein, director of the Yangon Region government’s office on April 5. 

Till April 4, Yangon had 31 people in hospital quarantine, 842 in hotel quarantine and 2,088 facility quarantine.
