Whirlwinds from the east and west may bring rain to north and south parts of Myanmar in the third week of December, said Dr. Kyaw Moe Oo, Director General of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
“At present, a little rain pours in Putao and the rainfall may continue next days. Rain may not pour across the country. Weather will be fair in this period. The temperature is not increased much and nighttime temperature in Shan State is likely to be below normal,” he said.
A low-pressure area may form over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal. Weather will be partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and generally fair elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the weather forecast for third ten-day of December by the DMH, light rain is likely about normal in Kachin State and below normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.
Rainy days are expected about 1 to 2 days in the upper Sagaing and Taninthayi regions and Kachin State. Weather will be generally fair in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawady regions, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.
The nighttime temperature will be 1.5°C below normal in Shan State and about normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions, Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.
Foggy days will be expected about 7 to 9 days in Sagaing and Mandalay regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states and about 4 to 6 days in Nay Pyi Taw, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions.
