A ward administrative official was shot and killed in western Thanlyathmaw  Ward, Mahaaungmyay Township, Mandalay Region, on October 18, according to local sources.

The person who was shot and killed was U Than Min, a 100-house administrator. He was sleeping in his house when two men came and shot him.

A statement released by Myanmar Police Force also confirmed the incident saying that on October 18, at 12:30 pm in Mahaaungmyay Township, U Than Min, aged 45, 100-house administrator of house western Thanlyathmaw  Ward was shot by two men arriving on a motorbike while he was sleeping in the bedroom of the Shwe Kaung Myat Tea Shop at the corner of 41st Street and Strand Road. After gunfire, the two ran away. U Than Min received two bullet wounds in his left eye and left cheek, and died on the spot.

The police statement said that security forces are taking measures to identify and arrest those who committed the killing.
