Three men including vocalist Phyo Pyae Sone who were arrested for allegedly possessing narcotics drugs have been released as they were not found guilty according to the examination from the Chemical Examiner's Office (Yangon), a senior officer from the Special Anti-Drug Squad confirmed.
"It is true they have been released. According to the examination from the Chemical Examiner's Office (Yangon), they (their tablets) had no narcotic potency. After seeking legal advice from Bahan Police Station, they were released," the officer said.
Bahan Police also confirmed that the three had been released.
The arrests came after a tip-off and then there were released as they were not found guilty.
"Arrests were made because what they had was assumed to be narcotics. The police station sent the stuff to the chemical examiner's office. When examined, they had no potency of narcotics. They were released in accordance with Section 169 of the criminal procedure law. They will face a lawsuit. We have no evidence to sue them.
The three men including singer Phyo Pyae Sone were released on October 9 evening, said police major Thein Win from Bahan Township Police Force.
"As they were not guilty, they were released in accordance with the law," he said.
Vocalist Jewel wrote on her Facebook account saying that Phyo Pyae Sone, Nyein Chan Ko and Rawni San Lwin are now safe back home after escaping from false accusation.
Acting on information, a combined team including Special Anti-Drug Squad-40 arrested the three at a café of Myanmar Plaza in Bahan Township. A plastic container carrying what was assumed to be ketamine (10 tablets) and three phones were seized from the back seat of their car.
Then, Bahan Township Police Station opened a case against them.
