YANGON-As the monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal, there will be heavy rain in eight regions and states including Yangon region starting from August 3rd to 8th, according to the announcement of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
The DMH also reported that rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Kachin and Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Chin State. Degree of certainty is (100%).
The DMH also warned that monsoon wind intensified with warnings against heavy rain, floods and landslides in next 6 days.
Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthari regions as well as Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States can have up to three inches of rain during 24 hours.
The cumulonimbus cloud coming from the South-China Sea can cause heavy rain, thunder, lightning, tornadoes and strong wind.
