Vice President U Nyo Saw attended the opening ceremony of the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo and the 23rd China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Nanning, China, on September 17.
The opening ceremony was held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center, where U Nyo Saw, along with Union Minister U Tun Ohn and members of the Myanmar delegation, attended and delivered remarks.
Chinese Vice Premier, deputy prime ministers and government leaders from ASEAN member states also delivered opening remarks and formally opened the two events.
In his speech, U Nyo Saw said the China-ASEAN Expo serves not only as a platform to promote trade and investment between China and ASEAN countries, but also as an important venue for building trust, exploring business opportunities, exchanging technology and experience, and strengthening people-to-people ties.
He said the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) 3.0 introduces new areas of cooperation, including the digital economy, green economy, supply chains, and competition and consumer protection. These areas could create greater opportunities for trade and investment while promoting free, fair and rules-based trade that benefits all sides, he said.
U Nyo Saw also said that since President U Min Aung Hlaing assumed state responsibilities, he had visited eight countries, including China and four ASEAN member states, helping further strengthen existing friendly relations, mutual understanding and practical cooperation.
He noted that during President U Min Aung Hlaing's friendship visit to China in June 2026, a joint statement between Myanmar and China was issued following talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to U Nyo Saw, the two sides agreed to further promote cooperation based on equality, mutual respect, consultation and mutual benefit. They also agreed to strengthen economic cooperation in areas including the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, energy, electricity, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, agriculture, healthcare, education and human resources development.
U Nyo Saw said Myanmar would continue to strengthen its “pauk-phaw” relations with China while further promoting ASEAN-China cooperation based on ASEAN centrality, equality and mutual benefit.
In the afternoon, the Vice President attended and delivered remarks at the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum, held as part of the 23rd China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, together with leaders from ASEAN member states and invited countries.
He later attended the opening ceremony of the Bago ( City of Charm) exhibition at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center. He officially opened the exhibition and toured the Myanmar and ASEAN exhibition booths.
Myanmar is participating in the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo with 81 booths featuring agricultural products, handicrafts and gemstones. More than 1,000 booths from China and ASEAN member states are displaying products from their respective countries at the expo.
