According to Thai news reports, authorities seized a vehicle loaded with ammunition believed to be destined for Myanmar at a checkpoint along the Tak–Mae Sot road in Thailand on the afternoon of October 2.
At around 12:30 p.m., officials at the Bang Hoi Yau Security Checkpoint on the Tak-Mae Sot Asian Road stopped a Mitsubishi Pajero with a Bangkok license plate. The vehicle was traveling from Tak to Mae Sot.
The driver, identified as Mr. Krit from Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, and his companion, Mr. Thong from Bangkok, were taken into custody for questioning. Seized items included 40 rounds of 81mm mortar shells, 25 rounds of 40mm RPG shells, 25 unspecified ammunition rounds, and 1,640 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.
Initial investigations indicated that the suspects were using the Line messaging app to coordinate deliveries to a major shopping mall in Mae Sot, Tak Province. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the intended destination and network behind the shipment.
