Value of foreign trade by air freight declines by 56% in four months this year

The value of foreign trade by air from October to January this fiscal year was nearly US$170 million declining by over 56 percent when compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, according to the ministry of planning and finance.  

Import and export of goods by air freight in four months from October 2020 to January 2021 in the current 2020-2021 financial year were worth US$169.66 million whereas the same period of the previous year saw US$389.58 million.

Comparison shows that the foreign trade by air freight has declined by US$219.92 million or 56.45 percent.

In six months this fiscal year from October to March, China topped the list of 10 countries to which Myanmar exported goods most. Myanmar exported goods worth US$2,941.56 million to China, US$1,551.23 million to Thailand, US$498.39 million to Japan, US$393.57 million to India, US$349.06 million to the US, US$203.09 million to Spain, US$202.93 million to Germany, US$185.02 million to the UK, US$167.24 million to South Korea and US$152.96 million to the Netherlands, according to the data from the ministry of commerce.

Trade value between Myanmar and China was US$12,126.278 million from October to September in 2019-2020 fiscal year. Myanmar exported goods worth US$5,401.943 million and imported goods worth US$6,724.335 million. 

In the same fiscal year, trade value between Myanmar and India was over US$1,300 million.
