A total of 22 people including rectors of Aero Space University and technology, lecturers, a principal, business people and political activists were charged with Section 505 (a) on March 1 evening.
“Twenty people were charged with Section 505(a). We are not arresting them at the moment. Respective police station officer have to act as plaintiff. Two rectors, university lecturers five political activists and a hotelier were included in the lawsuit. I am still observing the lawsuit and don’t know the detail,” said an official from the Meikhtila District police station.
Section 505 (a) can be charged to those absent from work. Arrest warrant is needed. When arrested, no bail can be made. The sentence is 2 years in prison or fine or both. It depends on the judge’s consideration and sympathy, said a local lawyer from Meikhtila.
