The Union Election Commission (UEC) examined the Arakan Front Party, Rakhine State National Unity Party, Mro Ethnic Party, Khami National Development Party and the Mro Ethnic Development Party; the political parties based in Rakhine State whether they are complied with Political Parties’ Registration Law or not on July 11, announced the UEC.
Members of the Union Election Commission U Aung Moe Myint, U Myint Oo and U Myint Thein, who are in charge of Rakhine State, met the chairmen and members of the Arakan Front Party, Rakhine State National Unity Party, Mro Ethnic Party, and Khami National Development Party, which have been registered in May 2023 and the Mro Ethnic Development Party, which has been registered in July, at the meeting hall of the Rakhine State Election Commission Branch Office on July 11 and examined for compliance with the Political Parties’ Registration Law.
In that meeting, U Aung Moe Myint said that the political parties that have been approved for registration to comply with the rules issued by the Union Election Commission, to have responsible for the recruitment of party members within 90 days after the issuance of the permit for the registration of political parties specified by law, to open township party offices of political parties, which must be opened within 180 days, to request permission from the relevant General Administration Department and township municipal development department, to properly organize and assign the township party office formations after opening the township offices of the political parties that have been allowed to be registered, to exchange previous three-fold national registrations with national identification cards for members of political parties at the Township Immigration and Population Department and to prepare in advance as the Union Election Commission, the General Administration Department and the Audit Department under the Ministry of Planning and Finance will take an inspection after opening the township party offices and the respective chairmen and party members clarified about the issues.
The Arakan Front Party based in Sittway, Rakhine State National Unity Party based in Thandwe, Mro Ethnic Party based in Buthidaung, Khami National Development Party based in Sittway and Mro Ethnic Development Party based in Kyauktaw, have been registered as a political party in accordance with Article (9) of the Political Parties’ Registration Law.
