The Union Election Commission (UEC) has announced that it is working in collaboration with relevant ministries, organizations, and political parties to ensure the accuracy and reliability of voter lists.
Responding to a BBC inquiry regarding claims by U Hla Swe, Nay Pyi Taw Chairman of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), about alleged voter list errors, the UEC stated that it is cooperating with relevant bodies to verify the lists.
“The Union Election Commission is working closely with relevant ministries, organizations, and political parties to ensure that the voter lists are accurate and correct. In accordance with the law, the second revised voter lists will be displayed in mid-November for voters to review once again,” the UEC said in its response.
The commission explained that, under Section 5 of the respective election laws, the voter lists are compiled based on population data maintained by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the General Administration Department as well as household population records maintained by the Ministry of Immigration and Population .
The UEC noted that complete and accurate voter lists can only be achieved through public participation and that the first round of voter lists had been displayed from September 30 to October 13, 2025. The public has been encouraged daily through state media, newspapers, and social media to review the lists during this period.
To further improve accuracy, the UEC urged voters to check the displayed voter lists and, if necessary, file corrections or objections in accordance with election laws. Voters whose names are missing may apply using Form 3; objections can be filed with Form 4; and data corrections can be made using Form 4(Ga). All relevant forms are available free of charge at local election commission offices, the UEC added.
