The Union Betterment Party led by Ex-general and former Lower House Speaker U Shwe Mann, has a plan to compete in the 2020 general elections, said Daw Su Su Hlaing, deputy in-charge of Yangon regional organizing committee of the UBP.

“He is the leader of the UBP and he, himself, plays an important role in the party and is going to participate in 2020 general elections.

The discussions of the SMEs organized by the UBP were held at the House of Orchid in Yangon on November 23.

It is so early to tell where to compete in which constituencies. But we have got lots of proposals from the voters who are living in the native place of the chairman of the UBP to come and compete in their constituencies, said Su Su Hlaing.

“We have heard of the invitations from the close circle of the chairman of the party. The party led by the chairman is wanted to come and participate in the upcoming general elections,” said Su Su Hlaing.

The former native place of the chairman of the party is Kanyutkwin in Phyu Township, Bago Region. Thura Shwe Mann competed in the elections two times. He is ex-general and former Lower House Speaker as well as former joint-chairman of the USDP.
