U Mya Aye, 88 Generation politician, sentenced to 2 years

U Mya Aye, who is one of the 88 Generation politicians, was sentenced to 2 years at the Insein special court on March 10 according to sources close to court.

March 10 was also U Mya Ayes’ birthday and he turned 56 years on that day.

On the social media page of his daughter Wai Hnin Pwint, she wrote that, “My father was sentenced to 2 years with Section 505 (c).”

He was detained on February 1, 2021, and he faced lawsuits at the Insein prison special court for over one years. He is in poor health, sources said.

Min Thway Thit, a former student leader and detained on the same day with U Mya Aye was released last month after one year sentence.

U Han Thar Myint, NLD party central executive committee member, detained on February 1, 2021, was sentenced 2 years on December 30, 2021 with Section 505 (a) but released on January 27, 2022 with pardon.
