Due to the spread of Covid-19, the number of visitors to popular tourist site, U Bein Bridge in Mandalay Region has dropped significantly.
Daw San San, a vendor from Taungthaman village said: “U Bein Bridge was packed with visitors in summer and winter seasons. Thanks to it, local vendors are ok. Families are ok.”
“Local vendors are not ok as the number of visitors has declined by double.”
There have been no confirmed cases in Myanmar yet. As a measure to contain the Covid-19 outbreak, the government has banned mass gatherings, events and festivals till 30 April.
