Dr Zaw Win Aung, Rector of Loikaw Technological University, Dr Aung Myint Aye, Rector of University of Computer Studies, Loikaw and Dr Zaw Lin Tun, Head of Government Technological Institute in Loikaw are detained and charged with Section 505 (a) of Penal Code as hundreds and thousands of people are came to the universities compounds to bar the army and police who came to the universities from March 7 to station, sources said.

“The authorities called the rectors and headed to attend the meeting at 2:30 pm on March 10 and when they didn’t come back to their homes at night, we learnt that they were being detained. They were kept at Loikaw Prison on March 11. We are seeking advice from the lawyers to get bail for them today. They are old and have age-related diseases. They have been charged as they appeared to encourage the civilians to stop the army and police to station in the universities compounds,” said a teacher.

The Technological Teachers’ Federation (TTF) objected to the detention and made a request to people to help.
