The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has announced that two low-pressure systems may form in the Bay of Bengal during July, with one potentially intensifying into a depression. The southwest monsoon is expected to be moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Most regions, including Yangon, can expect nearly continuous rainfall throughout the month.

Rainfall in Yangon Region, Magway Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, and Kayin State is likely to be below average. Meanwhile, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Sagaing Region, Kachin State, Kayah State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Shan State are expected to receive near-average rainfall with thunderstorms.

In terms of rainy days, Yangon Region, Bago Region, Upper Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kachin State, Kayin State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Southern Shan State may experience rainfall on 23 to 29 days. Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region, Kayah State, and Northern/Eastern Shan State could see rain on 15 to 22 days, while Magway Region and Lower Sagaing Region may have 8 to 14 rainy days.

For the third week of June, another low-pressure system was forecasted in the Bay of Bengal, with the southwest monsoon strengthening further. Above-average rainfall is expected in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Kayah State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Southern/Eastern Shan State. Meanwhile, Yangon Region, Bago Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kachin State, Kayin State, Chin State, and Northern Shan State are likely to receive near-average rainfall.

During this period, Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, Upper Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kachin State, Kayin State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Southern Shan State may experience rain on 8 to 10 days. Lower Sagaing Region, Kayah State, and Northern/Eastern Shan State could see rainfall on 5 to 7 days.
