Two LGBT beauticians shot dead, one injured in Mawlamyine

Three LGBT beauticians were shot by unidentified gunmen in Mawlamyine’s Maha Myine Ward on the night of November 9, leaving two dead and one injured, according to local residents and security sources.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the “Myin Thu Lan” beauty salon on Myay Ni Kone Ward. Witnesses said two men on a motorcycle followed the victims as they returned from Hlaing Ward and opened fire in front of the salon.

The deceased were identified as 37-year-old Tin Ko Ko Oo from Myay Ni Kone and Mamod Ayon (also known as Ma Ni) from Kyaikmaraw Township. The injured victim, 32-year-old Zwe Wei Yan Htet, also from Kyaikmaraw, was taken to Mawlamyine General Hospital for treatment.

At the scene, police found four 9mm bullet casings and one live round near the victims’ motorcycle. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting searches to identify and arrest the suspects.
