Two factories in Shwe Linban industrial zone in Hlaing Tharyar Township have temporarily stopped their operation during November. As a result, over 500 workers were unemployed according to an official from the industrial zone.

A garment factory had to temporarily shut down due to severe shortage of raw materials and a factory which produces soles for shoes had to temporarily shut down due to a complete lack of overseas order.

“There are 200 workers in the garment factory and more than 300 workers in a factory which produces soles for shoes. Previously, there were 5 more factories temporarily stopped their operation but now they resume their operation. There are five new factories recently begin their operation,” said an official from the zone.

The garment factory has opened for two months and the factory which produces soles for shoes has been opened for 5 years, he said.
