Local residents have said that two children drowned at about 2:00 p.m. on September 23 in a creek near the railway bridge in the village of Ouksidee, Bago.

One local resident said that the two children who drowned while swimming in the creek were both around 13 years old boys living in region-9, Ward No.8.

"The stream was about 10 feet deep, and two of the children were drowning, and the other came home. It takes about 20 minutes to go and from the creek where the children swam, so the drowning children could not be saved," he said.

The bodies of the two children who drowned were recovered after an hour of searching by social relief teams and local residents, said the local resident.

The bodies were transported by a social relief team to Bago People’s Hospital.  Then, they were transported back to their homes after relevant inspections.

On June 24 also, three young men drowned under a bridge on the road connecting the Bago detour road and Socialist Ward, according to local sources.
